Community Endorsed Applicant Program

The Community Endorsed Applicant Program is a partnership between UC Davis School of Medicine and California Community Health Canters (CHCs).  This model has great potential to align the recruitment, training, and retention of promising health professions students who want to eventually practice in their own or similar underesourced communities.

Shasta Community Health Center Family Medicine Residency

 Shasta Community Health Center in Redding, California sponsors an accredited Rural Training Program in Family Medicine affiliated with the University of California at Davis. The program provides strong exposure to obstetrics, pediatrics, procedures and homeless /community medicine.  Three residents per year (PGY-1 through PGY-3) are accepted in each class. The SCHC Family Medicine Residency works closely with the Mercy Redding Family Practice Residency Program, rotating on inpatient services and sharing call.  Outpatient continuity clinics are done at Shasta Community Health Center sites.

Shasta Community NP/PA Fellowship

Shasta Community Health Center’s (SCHC) NP/PA Post Graduate Primary Care Fellowship Program is specifically designed for newly graduated and licensed NPs and PAs who desire:

  • Additional training in the area of primary care
  • Mentorship and guidance from seasoned clinicians
  • Experience providing healthcare to a diverse patient population within the community health care clinic setting

SCHC Future Primary Care Workforce Scholarship

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in college or graduate program and actively pursuing a medical career (MD/DO, NP, PA and Dentists Only).
  • Graduated from a Shasta County high school.
  • Minnimum cumulative GPA 3.0.
  • Has a compelling interest in returning to Shasta County after program completion to provide primary health care to the medically underserved.

COMPADRE

COMPADRE: California Oregon Medical Partnership to Address Disparities in Rural Education and Health

 Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and UC Davis are assembling a robust collaborative of health care systems, GME programs and FQHCs to address workforce shortages in under-resourced communities between Sacramento and Portland. COMPADRE will reduce health disparities by creating a physician workforce that is better prepared, more equitably distributed and more deeply connected to underserved communities. The Shasta Health Care Workforce is excited to be part of this initiative.

Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology

The Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MACP) program is designed to prepare you for licensure in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and to positively impact individuals, couples, and families in the community.  Simpson is a private christian university located in Redding California.

CSU Chico Graduate Programs

CSU Chico is a public university located in Chico California with a small extension site located in Redding California. Health Related Graduate Programs Include: MS Nursing, MS Psychology (MFT), MS Nutritional Science, MA Kinesiology, MPA Public Administration, and MSW Social Work.
